The History of Domaine de Grolhier
Domaine de Grolhier is a family business run by us, Ted and Jo Marshall. We are a tri-lingual family (French, English and Finnish) with 2 children born here in France.
We have lived in France since 2002, when we bought Domaine de Grolhier as a run-down restaurant with out-buildings. After many years of hard work the Domaine was opened up for business. Since then we have upgraded the property to 3 star status and now run a succesful group holiday destination.
We are heavily involved in the local community, Ted is a member of the local cycling club and also serves on the local council of Busserolles. Jo volunteers with the local council and the school, when she’s not busy with organising weddings and helping the holiday clients.
Domaine de Grolhier was originally a watermill serving the local community, specialising in milling flour and pressing walnut oil and was working until the 1950’s. We are currently in the process of getting a permission from the listed buildings equivalent in France to start work restauring the mill to its former glory.
